The future is not in the hands of fate, but in ours. God gives every bird his worm, but He does not throw it into the nest. As one goes through life one learns that if you don't paddle your own canoe, you don't move. Can't nothin' make your life work if you ain't the architect. Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life. To be happy, drop the words "if only" and substitute instead with "next time." Each of us makes his own weather, determines the color of the skies in the emotional universe which he inhabits. It was on my fifth birthday that Papa put his hand on my shoulder and said, "Remember, my son, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm." Nothing happens unless first a dream.

The August Heat In Texas

It has been unusually cool for this time of the year until today. The heat index is 105! It's usually like this all month so I'm spoiled I guess. It has rained and rained here....really strange for Texas in the summer. Now my DIY is building a redwood door for my bathroom. Oh how nice it's going to be to have a real door instead of a hanging blanket. It will match my redwood walls. Can't wait to get it finished! My kitchen is just about finished and I can start unpacking my new dishes Jenn gave me....Thank you Jenn, just in case I didn't tell you twice! I'm just about ready to put in my base boards and be able to move in the rest of my furniture...YIPEEEEEE! My bird variety has increased and I still have 3 I can't identify. I never knew what a challenge it is. Sure wish I had a spotting scope and tripod.....maybe someone will by it for me for my birthday, yeah, right! Ain't life great....you gotta enjoy each and every day because it very well could be your last at anytime. Too hot to mushroom hunt...that's my other hobby. By the way Jenn, Jodi and I are gonna team up and help with the babysitting while you guys go to New Orleans.....only if you bring me back a T-Shirt, K?   ; |

Making a Curtain
08.11.04 (11:00 am)
As some of you know, Suzie Homemaker I'm not! So, when I got my electric bill I decided to hang something up to block the cool air out of the utility room and closet. Hey, you just nail up a sheet, right? Well, not when Mike, my good friend and neighbor is around. We put the sheet on the floor, got the measuring tape and measured and marked it several times. Then we get a board and measured and marked all over it. We start the middle of the sheet in the middle of the board, (or so we thought) got the staple gun out and we start pleating it. Uh oh, I'm lost.......as we get to the end of the board the sheet is too short so we take out about 20 staples and start over only this time we have too much sheet left. OK, I gotta pop another top!....Back on the floor with the sheet....it's turned into a puzzle for him now! 5 beers later we are hanging my curtain and it really looks cute! It even has a ruffle at the top. Mike can build a house and decorate it too! Couldn't make it without him! Oh, by the way Jodi...I owe you a sheet.
